Benedictine nuns of Belo Horizonte (Brazil) [May 2026]
Two sisters on the Cistercian Monastic Formation Course
Projects #26M005 & 26M006
The Nossa Senhora das Graças Monastery was founded in 1949 by the Abbey of Santa María de São Paulo; it became an abbey in 1953. The community comprises around thirty nuns. They make liturgical vestments, produce handicrafts and pottery, carry out translation work, and run a guesthouse for visitors.

Projects:
Sister Maria Cecilia and Sister Vera Lucia have been sent to the Cistercian Order’s Monastic Formation Course (CFM), which will take place from 24 August to 18 September 2026.
The CFM is under the patronage of the Pontifical Academy of St Anselm (Rome). The CFM consists of three five-week sessions over three consecutive years, from late August to late September. The CFM is devoted to the study of monastic sources and tradition, patristic and liturgical knowledge, the spirituality specific to the monastic ideal and cultural heritage, engagement with the humanities, and above all a sound knowledge of Holy Scripture and monastic theology. A number of cultural and spiritual visits enrich the intellectual formation.
Financial assistance would be required to cover the registration fees.
Financial assistance: 3,200 euros (2 x 1,600 euros)
